Swimming

With the season drawing to a close, we were all desperate for a clear day for the annual night gala. As luck would have it, it was a perfect late afternoon and 10 teams enjoyed a super event. The final results were as follows:

 St Mary’s A  416
 St Andrew’s A  379
 St Mary’s B  289
 Kingsmead A  283
 Assumption A  250
 St Teresa’s  214
 Jeppe A  204
 Kingsmead B  138
 St Andrew’s B  131
 Assumption B  55

This week saw the culmination of all our early mornings, tough sessions and general hard work in the pool. The B team swam in the A gala on Thursday and were absolutely superb, winning by 51 points. Our A team swam in the Premier inter-high gala on Saturday and Mrs Zumpt and I could not have been more proud of the team. We were relentless in our efforts and, at one point in the gala, brought ourselves to within seven points of the untouchable St Stithians team. They escaped with a superb closing effort in which they won the last five races. Well done St Mary’s swimmers!
