The Singing Sistas Festival took place on 6 and 7 June. This year, we hosted one of our biggest festivals yet with seven schools attending and more than 550 girls taking part in the unifying power of music and singing.
On the first evening, the St Mary’s Senior Primary choir performed and was joined by choirs from Kingsmead, St Katharine’s and St Andrew’s. A festive atmosphere filled the auditorium with a wide range of different choral music, culminating in two combined pieces including Gary Barlow’s Sing with its moving lyrics of “Some words they can’t be spoken only sung, so hear a thousand voices shouting love.”
On the second evening, the St Mary’s Junior orchestra performed and hosted St Peter’s, Auckland Park Preparatory and St Stithians.
This festival is one of the highlights on the music calendar and I thank everyone behind the scenes for helping to make it such a great success. Thank you to the girls for their energy and commitment, and to you, as parents, for your continued support and encouragement.
