Support Alexandra learners through the Foundation's adopt-a-child campaign

As little as R6 000 a year gives a learner access to the Ikusasa Lethu Programme held at St Mary’s. This programme, which runs every Saturday, involves 300 learners from grades 10 to 12 receiving supplementary tuition in core subjects.

The majority of the learners in this programme come from impoverished one-bedroomed homes in Alexandra. Despite these circumstances, they commit to attending weekly classes and improving their matric results in order to pursue tertiary studies.

Lucas Manhica, a past pupil of this programme, achieved seven distinctions in his matric year in 2011. He has recently been awarded a scholarship to study engineering at Michigan State University in the United States.

Based on the prizes awarded to top learners at the recent Ikusasa Lethu Programme prize-giving, we look forward to stellar results from this year’s matric class.
